In this article we are going to talk about how to earn yourself a passive income online.
You need more money.
The more money that you have, the more money that you can make to reinvest back into yourself and your business(es).
What if you don’t have any money to start out?
This makes things significantly more difficult but not impossible.
The methods that we discuss in this blog are going to be beneficial no matter how much money you have but ESPECIALLY important to those who do not have a lot of money because you need it the most.
There is a method of making serious money online that has proven to make anywhere from $8.00 – $8,000.00 per day, depending on how much time, energy, and passion you are willing to invest.
Of course, everyone who has started any kind of business knows that it takes money to make money, and that is true but before you even think about spending money, you have to have passion.
Passion, time, energy.
These are the three things that you must have and be willing to give towards your business, whatever that may be. Whether you are a magician selling the secrets to magic tricks, having goods dropshipped across the country for your customers, you’re somebody washing cars of facebook friends on the weekends, or you’re an affiliate marketer, your time, energy, and passion are going to determine how successful you are.
For our example, since we have been talking a lot about affiliate marketing and paid online advertising lately, lets say you decide that you want to be an affiliate marketer because it just sounds like the perfect gig for you.
All startup costs for affiliate marketing are relatively low in comparison to most of the other options we have for making money online.
Since we are starting this new money making campaign on a shoestring budget, we choosing affiliate marketing as our first choice of income because it does not require us to buy any inventory or spend money on shipping.
With affiliate marketing you will get a tracking link with your tag on it so that when anyone clicks on your link and buys the product, you will get to split the commission with the vendor of that item. Some vendors pay higher commissions than others. Products can be anything from online courses and digital items to physical products that are shipped in the mail to your customers.
Choosing a niche that you are passionate about is vital to your success…
How passionate are you going to be about the niche that your promoting products for? Why are you choosing the products that you choose? These are some of the first questions that you want to ask yourself because the answers will determine your potential for success.
The answer to these important questions should be similar to something like this:
a.) Passionate enough to promote a product or the products that I believe in. Passionate enough to write, post, and/or share up to date and relevant blog articles, social media posts, and/or make videos on social media on the subject.
b.) I picked these products or this product because I know that it works, it solves a huge problem for my followers. (It is also a popular product that is selling well and making other affiliates money.)
After you have decided what niche you will be producing content for and what products will be offered, it is now time to let the world know about your blog or website.
Remember, that we are starting this on a shoestring budget, which is why we chose affiliate marketing as our choice of income because it does not require us to buy any inventory or spend money on shipping.
How do we get paid by promoting other peoples stuff?
Approved affiliates on the affiliate network will be given tracking link with your tag on it so that when anyone clicks on your link and buys the product, you will get to split the commission with the vendor of that item. Some vendors have higher commissions than others. Products can be anything from online courses and digital items to physical products that are shipped in the mail to your customers.
Since we do not have a lot of money, our key source of marketing, starting out, is going to be social media.
Instead of going overboard with it and creating 20 different social media accounts, pick 1 or 2 for now and become a master of those 2.
Start with Pintrest, Instagram, or Facebook.
For our example in this article we are going to be using Instagram but please search our blog for other articles that go more in depth about social media marketing.

Make sure that you use your website’s domain name or search terms for your niche in your actual name that you use for your social media business account.
For example if my website is modernhealthguide.com because niche is in health and fitness then I will try to get my Instagram name to read something like instagram.com/modernhealthguide.
This will help people find my website and Instagram pages when people are searching for things like modern health guides!
You want to write in your bio that you are a blogger and give the link to your blog.
It is important, especially when first starting out, to build your audience on Instagram by getting followers.
Followers = bio clicks = ad impressions = ad clicks = products purchased = profit
In order to get followers on Instagram, (and social media in general) is to post consistently.
Being consistent with your posts is the most important thing to do when you are building a following.
If you can post once a day then do it, if you can post twice a day then do that, if you can post 3-4 times a day, then do that!
I would not post more than 6 times a day because you do not want to overwhelm or annoy anyone.
You need to make sure that every single item that gets posted on your feed contains value to your followers. The more value a post has then the more others will share it.
5 Things that Add value to your social media posts are things like:
Making someone laugh with a meme has its value. Be sure not to over do it if you aren’t a comedy page.
2.) Information –
Tips and tricks related to your niche, anything that helps your audience save time, money, or energy
3.) Related media –
These could be pictures, videos, anything like that. For example if your website sells legos then you would want to share pictures from your community of people building awesome buildings with legos!
4.) Related resource material –
This could be a link to a forum, video, blog post, or anything that covers the same niche as your site does.
5.) Personal experiences –
This one is huge in earning the trust of your audience and getting them to relate to you.
If your page is about legos share the time that your dog ate your most prized lego set, if you write about marketing then post about the time that you failed at affiliate marketing. These don’t have to be bad experiences, they can be good or bad as long as they are true and personal.
The more personal the better because it will make you seem like a real human that doesn’t just care about making a buck off his viewers.
Okay, so now you have a blog/website, you have 1 or 2 social media accounts on the same topic, hopefully using the same keyword(s), and you have your affiliate links strategically placed throughout your blog where it makes sense for viewers to click on them.
You are making at least 1 social media post per day with a link back to your website/blog which has links to your affiliate program.
With any luck you are going to start seeing the amount of people following you one social media increase, and then you will start to see traffic trickle in from your social media to your blog, and some of this traffic will click your links and convert sales.
These are the very basic steps you can take to start getting traffic to your blog or website. If your content provides value and you have picked good products then you will start to make commissions.
Now that you have started to make a few sales, you can start to do some analysis on your traffic. You will be able to see which products are selling, which are not, and how customers are getting to that product.
Now you might want to consider paid advertising as a way to get more, targeted traffic towards your page. This is a major way to reach people outside your circle of followers on social media and are usually customers that are already looking for information about products like yours.
Similar to the way we marketed with social media we will apply a similar method here which is to stick to one advertising network at a time. You will want to do this because,
a.) You want to know how much business this ad is generating you by it self and if you run two campaigns to the same affiliate link at the same time then you won’t be able to tell which ad campaign brought you the traffic, was it the one that costs $50 or the one that costs $5? You need to know so that you can replicate the campaigns that do the BEST.
So much like we started with just Instagram with social media we will just start out with Google Ads for paid advertising, then later we can try Facebook ads, etc.
There are many different types of campaigns you can setup and run on google ads, you can also pause and edit them at any time.
I suggest starting with small campaigns because a.) you probably don’t have a huge advertising budget yet and b.) we want to find out which ads work the best before dropping big money on expensive ad campaigns.
We do this by running a different ad campaign each week and tracking the results. We will do small amounts at first like $5 a day and see if that gets us results.
After a month we will have 4 ad campaigns to track, which ever one did the best is the one we replicate but using $10 a day this time, if our sales also double then we go to $20 a day and so forth until we get to the point that we are spending more money without getting more sales, that is when we scale back down a little, while making tweaks to our campaign in order to get more sign ups, more email addresses, and most importantly more sales.
If you have manged to come this far then wow, you are sitting in a pretty good position and you should pat yourself on the back because this is the making or breaking point for most people.
You have made a few sales, you have a good product, but its just not quite enough to make all this seem worth it.
But instead of quitting like most people, you find yourself another another niche, another product, throw up another landing page, but this time you will have done it faster, possibly even cheaper then last time because you’ve gained something that will eventually be your edge over the competition and that is the experience you have gained.
With this next product, you may even be able to skip the month of testing ad methods and go straight for the one that worked and this time you should have a little bit more money to spend on advertising, maybe even enough to hire a social media manager.
